Normal PDF merging appends every page from the first document before starting the second. Alternate mixing cycles through the source files. With pace 1, PDFs A and B become A1, B1, A2, B2, and continue until every page has been used.
Place the odd-pages scan first and the even-pages scan second, then leave both pace values at 1. This combines even and odd pages in one PDF. If the paper stack was flipped before scanning the back sides, enable Reverse order for the second PDF so pages such as 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 are read back as 2, 4, 6, 8, 10.
Pace controls how many consecutive pages KissPDF takes from one file before moving to the next. Pace 1 is right for odd and even scans. Higher values can weave chapters, translated sections, question-and-answer packets, or recurring inserts into a predictable order.
KissPDF copies pages directly into a new document in browser memory, so ordinary text, images, and vector graphics are not intentionally rasterized. Document-level bookmarks, form structures, cross-document links, and digital signatures can be changed or invalidated when pages from several files are rebuilt into one PDF.
