Practical guide
PDF to PNG can render each PDF page as a lossless PNG or export compatible embedded raster images as PNG files. Rendering captures text, vectors, and images as one flat page image; extraction returns only image objects found inside the PDF.
PNG uses lossless compression and is well suited to diagrams, screenshots, line art, and pages with small text. It often produces larger files than JPG for photographs or scanned pages.
Render pages when the complete page layout is important. Extract embedded images when you only need the raster assets stored in the PDF. Extraction does not include surrounding captions, vector shapes, or text.
PNG cannot retain searchable text, hyperlinks, forms, bookmarks, annotations, or PDF layers. The page is represented by pixels, and output size grows with page dimensions and rendering scale.
Clear answers based on how this tool actually works.
PNG is lossless, which helps text and line art. It is not automatically more detailed than the rendering resolution used to create it.
Not reliably for complete page rendering. A PDF page is composited during rendering, so transparency can be flattened against the rendered background.
Lossless compression preserves exact pixel values and is less efficient than JPG for complex photographs and scans.
The current converter processes every page. Use Extract Pages first when only part of the PDF is needed.
