Invert PDF creates a permanent high-contrast copy by rendering each page at 2× scale, reversing its RGB pixel values, and placing the result back into a new PDF as a PNG image. This is different from a reader-only dark mode and changes the document into image-based pages.
White becomes black, black becomes white, and every other color changes to its RGB opposite. Photographs, logos, highlights, charts, and colored annotations are inverted along with the page background and text.
Because each output page is a PNG image, original text is no longer selectable or searchable. Hyperlinks, form fields, annotations, bookmarks, layers, scripts, and digital signatures are not preserved as interactive PDF features.
Inversion can make a bright text-heavy document more comfortable for some night-reading setups. It may make photographs and color-coded diagrams harder to understand, and image-based output can be substantially larger than the source.
