A booklet cannot be printed in ordinary page order because each folded sheet contains pages from different parts of the document. For an eight-page booklet, the imposed sides are 8–1, 2–7, 6–3, and 4–5. After double-sided printing and folding, those pages return to normal reading order.
Choose A5 booklet on A4 to place two A5 pages on each landscape A4 side. Choose Half Letter on Letter for the equivalent North American paper layout. The complete source page is fitted proportionally inside its half-sheet area rather than stretched or deliberately cropped.
Short-edge duplex is the recommended starting point for most printers using landscape booklet sheets. Long-edge mode rotates each back side by 180 degrees to compensate for that printer setting. Manual duplex groups all fronts first, followed by the backs in reverse sheet order. Printer feed paths vary, so test one sheet before printing a long booklet.
Use a custom page range when only part of the PDF belongs in the booklet. Page rotation can correct all pages or alternate clockwise and counterclockwise directions. When one scanned PDF page contains two facing book pages, split it left-first or right-first before booklet imposition; the split can apply to all selected pages or only a specified range.
KissPDF processes the selected document in browser memory and creates a separate booklet copy. Ordinary text, images, and vector drawing commands remain PDF content instead of being intentionally rasterized. Booklet imposition does not transfer links, annotations, form fields, or other interactive objects into the new page placements, and rewriting invalidates digital signatures.
