Readable database documentation

Convert SQL scripts, queries, and database dumps to PDF

A SQL-to-PDF converter turns plain SQL source code into a formatted, paginated document. KissPDF accepts an uploaded .sql file or pasted SQL and keeps SELECT queries, joins, common table expressions, window functions, CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, comments, and indentation readable as selectable text—not screenshots.

Use it to save a SQL script as a PDF for code review, database documentation, coursework, audit records, or printing. The exact preview and downloaded PDF use the same source snapshot, syntax highlighting, line numbers, paper size, and margins.

The converter formats SQL as source text only. It does not connect to a database, execute statements, validate a schema, inspect credentials, or include query results. Run and verify database-changing scripts in the appropriate database client before sharing them as documentation.

Three steps

How to save a SQL file as a PDF

01

Open or paste SQL

Choose a local .sql file, paste a query or SQL script into the editor, or load the built-in example. Existing whitespace, comments, aliases, and line breaks are preserved.

02

Customize the SQL document

Choose the code size, light or dark theme, line numbers, title, A4 or Letter paper, margins, and page numbering while reviewing the highlighted source.

03

Preview and download the PDF

Inspect the paginated output, zoom in or drag the page to explore the preview, then download the same layout as a searchable PDF without using a print dialog.

Made for SQL source

When a SQL code PDF is useful

SQL belongs in source control, migration tools, or database clients, but a stable paged copy is useful when database logic must be reviewed, approved, taught, archived, or included in a larger document.

Query reviews and audit records

Share reporting queries, joins, filters, aggregations, CTEs, and window functions with stable line numbers for review comments and approvals.

Schemas and migration documentation

Present CREATE and ALTER statements, indexes, constraints, and migrations in a printable format alongside release or architecture documentation.

Coursework and technical appendices

Add SQL exercises, data models, stored routines, or reproducible analysis queries to assignments, tutorials, and research appendices.

SQL-aware editing

Create a formatted SQL PDF without losing source layout

SQL often combines deeply nested expressions, long joins, vendor-specific functions, and explanatory comments. A monospaced code document preserves the supplied indentation, line breaks, and statement order while automatic pagination creates conventional PDF pages.

SQL syntax highlighting

The editor highlights common SQL keywords, identifiers, strings, numbers, operators, and comments using CodeMirror's standard SQL language mode.

Convert without losing source formatting

Indentation, capitalization, blank lines, comments, aliases, statement separators, and query order remain as supplied instead of being collapsed into unformatted text.

Normal pages and selectable text

Long scripts continue across A4 or Letter pages. The downloaded PDF remains searchable and selectable instead of flattening SQL into an image.

Formatting without execution

KissPDF does not connect to PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, SQLite, or another database. It cannot verify dialect-specific syntax, permissions, data, or query results.

Common questions

SQL to PDF FAQ

How do I convert SQL to PDF?

Click Open file and choose a local .sql file, or paste SQL code into the editor. Adjust the syntax highlighting, line numbers, title, and page settings, inspect the exact preview, and click Download PDF.

Can I convert a SQL query to PDF without a database?

Yes. The converter treats the query as source text, so no database server, account, connection string, or database client is required.

Does the PDF include query results or table data?

No. It contains the SQL source code only. The tool does not execute the query, connect to a database, or retrieve rows. Export query results separately from your database client when they are required.

Which SQL dialects are supported?

Common SQL syntax is highlighted, and SQL written for PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, SQLite, and similar systems can be formatted as text. Vendor-specific keywords may receive less detailed highlighting, and the tool does not validate dialect compatibility.

Can I convert an SQL script or database dump to PDF?

Yes. A plain-text SQL script or database dump containing CREATE TABLE, ALTER, INSERT, index, constraint, seed, or migration statements can be highlighted and paginated like other .sql source. KissPDF formats the statements but does not import or execute the dump.

Can I convert an SQL file to PDF without losing formatting?

Yes. Line comments, block comments, blank lines, indentation, capitalization, and statement order are preserved in the editor and in the formatted PDF. Use the exact preview to check how long SQL lines fit on each page before downloading.

Can I remove line numbers or the document title?

Yes. Line numbers, the document title, and page numbers are separate settings, and changes appear in the exact preview before download.

Is my SQL uploaded to a server?

The .sql file, source text, preview, and generated PDF are processed in this browser. The SQL is not sent to a document-conversion or database API, although normal website and CDN requests can still occur.
