How do I extract attachments from a PDF?
Choose a PDF, review the detected embedded files, select the attachments you need, and download one file directly or multiple files in a ZIP.
What files can be attached to a PDF?
PDFs can embed many file types, including XML, CSV, spreadsheets, source documents, images and archives. The original creator decides which files are stored.
Can this extract attachments hidden by my PDF reader?
Yes. The scanner checks the document EmbeddedFiles name tree, page FileAttachment annotations and Associated Files rather than relying on the reader interface.
Does this support PDF Portfolios?
It detects embedded files referenced by a PDF Portfolio and labels them as Portfolio files. The Portfolio interface and other presentation metadata are not reproduced.
Can I extract invoice XML from a PDF/A-3 file?
Yes, when the XML is stored as an Associated File such as Factur-X or ZUGFeRD invoice data. The AF relationship is shown when present.
Are extracted attachments safe to open?
Not automatically. Attachments can contain executable code, macros or malicious documents. The tool warns about common active file types, but you should scan every untrusted file before opening it.
Why were no attachments found?
The PDF may contain only visible pages, images or links rather than embedded files. It may also be encrypted, damaged or structured in an unsupported way.
Are my PDF files uploaded?
No. Attachment discovery, file extraction and ZIP creation run locally in your browser.
